Upon the arrival of the Respondent Mr. Hallifax, he interviewed the Appellant in accordance with section 4, sub-section (8) of the Ordinance and questioned him in accordance with the provisions of that sub-section and with Form No. 2 of the Schedule. The questions and the Appellant's answers will be found set out at pages 134 and 155 of the Record. The allegations mentioned in question 3 will be found at page 132 of the Record. The allegations against the Appellant were that he had made a practice of champerty, the institution of fraudulent claims, the preparation of false evidence, improper exploitation of litigants, dishonest conduct of litigation and the proceedings incidental thereto, and three specific instances of cases of misconduct were charged.

The Appellant's answers to the allegations were a denial. He further asked to be confronted with the witnesses. In answer to question 6 as to what witnesses or other evidence he had to adduce, he mentioned Mr. d'Almada E. Castro and Fr. Gordon Potter, a member of the Hongkong Bar. He stated that he could not then remember any further witnesses. The Respondent Mr. Hallifax urged him, if possible, to give the names of all his witnesses since if the names were given,
